Quentin Pettiford
Staff attorney, discipline and 504 plans
Quentin takes the cases that start with a phone call from the principal. He gets parents ready for the hearing, and goes with them.
Quentin came to the project from a public defender’s office, where he saw how often a school suspension came before a court date.
He handles suspension and expulsion hearings and 504 plans, and leads the project’s workshops that teach parents how to speak up at school meetings.

How Quentin works
Quentin meets the student before the hearing, with a parent in the room, so the first time they hear the questions isn’t in front of the school.
He coaches a youth debate team at a Newark library on Wednesday afternoons.

Call the front desk or send the form, and ask for Quentin by name.
A first call doesn’t make us your lawyers; a written agreement does.
